Chepala Pulusu (Fish Curry Andhra Style)
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Required ingredients for Chepala Pulusu (Fish Curry Andhra Style):
Fish — 2 Pounds (around 9-10 pieces)
Oil — 0.5 cup
Ginger — 2 inch cube
Garlic — 1 pod (walnut sized pod)
Cloves — 4
Coriander seed powder — 1 tbsp.
Cardammom — 2
Tamarind Extract — 4 tbsp.
Red Chile Powder — 1.5 tsp.
Turmeric — 0.5 tsp.
Curry Leaves — 12
Onion — 2 medium sized
Coriander leaves to garnish
Salt to taste
Directions for Chepala Pulusu (Fish Curry Andhra Style):
1.Make into a paste: ginger, garlic, cardammom, cloves, coriander seed powder, onions. Mix above with fish pieces ,salt, chile powder, turmeric and keep aside.
2.Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat, add curry leaves, coriander leaves fry for two minutes. Then add fish pieces and fry for 5 minutes. (DO NOT STIR OFTEN AS THE FISH PIECES CAN GET MUSHY). Then add tamarind paste mixed in two cups of water. Let it come to a boil , turn heat to low and cook for 15 minutes.
Serve hot. Goes well with white rice.
