Pork Buns

SHOPPING LIST: baking powder, flour, salt pork



1/3 lb. of finely chopped salt pork, 4 cups of flour, 6 tsp. baking powder, 1 1/2 cups of lukewarm water


Grease a cookie sheet with margarine.
Rinse 1/3 lb. of cubed salt pork in warm water. Partially pan fry the salt pork. Allow to cool a little.
Place sifted flour and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
Make a hollow in the middle of the flour mixture
Pour the fried pork and the fat that rendered from it into the hollow.
Add lukewarm water and mix until the mixture is similar to the tea bun dough.

Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface, such as a large rolling board.
Pat or roll out the dough until it is about 1/2 inch thick.
Using a floured round cookie cutter, cut out the tea buns and place each on the greased cookie sheet.
Bake in a 375F degree oven for about 30 minutes. SHARE With Your Friends:
