SHOPPING LIST: eggs, flour, margarine, milk, salt, shortening, sugar, active dry yeast (2 packages)
3 1/2 cups of flour, 1 package of active dry yeast, 1 1/4 cups of milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of shortening, 1 tsp. salt, 1 egg
Grease 2 muffin pans with margarine.
Mix together 1 1/2 cups of flour and the yeast.
Heat milk, sugar, shortening, and salt in a pan on the stove until warm, stirring constantly until the shortening almost melts
Stir the milk mixture into the flour and yeast in the pan.
Add the egg and mix well, either with the electric mixer for about 4 minutes or by hand until very smooth.
Stir in the remaining flour to make a soft dough.
Shape the dough into a ball
Dissolve yeast in the warm water in a large bowl and add the sugar.
Keeping, the dough warm, lightly grease a mixing bowl with the margarine.
Place the dough in the mixing bowl, and turn it over to make sure the grease covers all the dough.
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for until it doubles in size (about 1 1/2 to 2 hours)
Punch the dough down, then place it on a floured surface. Allow it to rest about 10 minutes.
Cut small amounts of dough and place each piece in the greased muffin tins, until the muffin tins are filled.
Cover the muffin tins, and let the dough rise in a warm place until it is double, about 30 to 45 minutes.
Bake at 400F degrees for about 10 to 12 minutes.
Place on wire racks to cool.
